Great Bend Community Concert:
1999-2000

Golden Belt community Concert Association will begin its member subscription drive when volunteers pick up their packets on Sunday, February 28. The membership headquarters will be open at the Holiday Inn, poolside, on Thursday and Friday March 11 and 12 from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and on Saturday, March 13 from 10:00 a.m. to l:00 p.m. at which time persons can become Golden Belt community Concert Association members who have not been approached by a volunteer previously. This concert season is from September, 1999 through April, 2000. A single adult membership for the 1999-2000 concert season is $25. A single student membership is $10. A family membership which includes two adults and all ofthe children or grandchildren living in one home is $55 Any enrolled student may acquire a single concert ticket at the door on the night of each concert for $5. This two week period is the only time memberships will be offered to the public, however, persons who move into the area at a time other than the drive period may obtain a membership at that time. Golden Belt Community Concert Association offers reciprocity with Pratt, Garden City and Dodge City (limited). Concerts being offered for the 1999-2000 season are: BOSTON BRASS September 12, 1999 3:00 p.m. The five menabers of the Boston Brass pass around melodies like they pass around the jokes. Up and down, back and forth they play, featuring the individual strengths of the musicians yet all the while connected by invisible bonds. Their performance is best described by a comment one of the members has made, “If this don't light your fire, your wood's wet”. The horn player is a Kansas-born native from Hutchinson. SILK, SATIN & SWING January 9, 2000 1:30 p.m. Classical meets Jazz when "Silk, Satin & Swing" hits the stage. Classical violinist, MOSHE HAMMER, Jazz violinist, LENNY SOLOMON and pianist, BERNIE SENENSKY - all internationally renowned musicians - combine their talents to bring you musical magic.

MARK DUBOIS & GLORIA SAARINEN February 27, 2000 1:30 p.m. Soloists in their own right, these two consummate artists from Canada blend their talents to offer the audience a performance of sheer musical DELIGHT! DuBois, a charismatic tenor, has been performing in operas, operettas and more since the age of 18 and pianist, Saarinen, who began as a young prodigy and studied in Europe bring you two perfomlallces for the price of one. QUARTETTO GELATO April 4, 2000 7:30 p.m. Four Scoops of Musicianship, Sprinkled with Wit! This group is equal parts of musicianship, showmanship and what might be called ''laughmanship''. This four-member group sparkles with spectacular playing, off-the-wall humor and enough musical pizzazz to give a new lift to the whole idea of "chamber music". NASHVILLE BLUEGRASS BAND April 10, 2000 7:30 p.m. The Nashville Bluegrass Band plays with precision powered by soul. In the world of bluegrass, there is hardly a doubt in anyone's mind that this Grammy winning band is the hippest, hottest new act in the field. The all-acoustic group plays a blend of traditional bluegrass influenced by old-time mountain music styles drawn from black, gospel and blues.
