Who?
The group was organized in the fall of 1997 by Lisa Hittle, director of jazz at Friends University in Wichita, Kansas. At the time, all four boys were in middle school and elementary school. As they have grown, so has their talent, experience and love for playing jazz. They are now one of Wichita's most in demand jazz groups. They represented Kansas at the International Association of Jazz Educators 1999 convention in Anaheim, California. They are, Nathan Hittle, age 12 (piano), Justin Wheeler, age 16 (saxophone), Brian Mueller, age 16 (drums) and Matt Rockett, age 15 (bass).
THE JAZZ FRIENDS COMMUNITY BIG BAND was organized in the fall of 1992 by Lisa Hittle, director of jazz at Friends University in Wichita, Kansas. Members consist of music educators, as well as people from other professions who love playing big band jazz. Ages range from early twenties to late sixties. They perform three or four concerts yearly.
